Infrastructure in an AR World

Innovators: MSgt Sarah Hubert and TSgt Raymond Zgoda

Infrastructure in an AR World is an effort to utilize ground penetrating radar to create an accurate map of underground infrastructure. More often than not, half of the repair time for underground infrastructure is spent locating it due to out of date and inaccurate maps/drawings.

IRIS

IRIS is a respirator with an integrated camera, speaker/microphone to enhance comms for personnel working in confined spaces. The system permits real-time information exchange and comprehensive feedback with live streamed images.

K-Wedge

Innovators: SMSgt Brett Kiser

The K-Wedge is a C-17 loading aid that can be installed prior to cargo uploads to protect the leading edge of the logistic rail system while also reinforcing the outboard rails for pallet spinning. This will eliminate preventable aircraft damage and mission delays.

LFOD (Laser Foreign Object Detection)

Innovators: TSgt Jacob Garcia

LFOD is a vehicle mounted laser scanning system that allows a two person crew to do a FOD "Walk" that would typically utilize an entire shift. This system allows for those personnel to reallocated to sortie generation. The system is currently procurable and is in the process of being redesigned into a portable package for ACE operation.

M-1 Fail Safe Mechanism

Innovators: TSgt Travis Alton

Also known as the "Alton Block" by many Loadmasters and Riggers, the M-1 FSM is a 3D Printed device that prevents the early release of parachutes during airdrop. There are currently 4 bases who have 3D printed the device locally and are awaiting certification to begin testing.

B-7 Maintenance Stand Safety Step

Innovators: MSgt Thomas Flammger

The B-7 Maintenance Stand is known around the Air Force for being a workhorse when it comes to aircraft maintenance and aircrew/pax deplaning. The 1st step on a B-7 Mx Stand is typically 18" above the ground, which is higher than the OSHA allowable limit and causes injury's when Maintainers, Aircrew, and PAX traverse the stand. This stowable (Flip-Up) step which attaches to the frame of the stand, reduces the height of the first step from ~18" to ~9" significantly decreasing the likely-hood of injury.

OREGON TRAIL

Innovators: SSgt Michael Sturtevant

OREGON TRAIL is a quick, rip out the door solution for moving pallets, and equipment in austere environments without the use of a forklift.
